Ubuntu 20.04.3 - no Wifi adapter / no Bluetooth!

I use multiple browsers, depending on what I need. For general browsing and scouting, I use Brave. When it comes to Linux Support etc. and the Workshops, I use Firefox (without extensions, as I don’t use it to browse around).

As a search engine, I use DuckDuckGo and the two following extensions for Brave - or whichever browser you decide to use for your general navigation on the net.

The UnityHub link already opens in Firefox, with the ‘choose other application’ message above. So if I select /snap/bin/firefox (from ‘type -a firefox’) then it just goes back to the blank firefox page… so round in circles.

What am I missing?

I found this and it got me one step further:

Have to say I’m reaching the end of my tether … every tiny step leads to another issue.

How can there only be 4.7 GB available? It’s a brand new 512 GB disk!

Is this correct?

It looks as if Unity is trying to install into your OS partition… that’s very strange. Can you select a different installation path?

Yes I tried /media/ubuntu/Unity/Hub/Editor (500+ GB available) but I get the exact same error using that path (4.69 GB available).

Ok so VERY strange. I rebooted my machine (not for the first time!) and tried the whole thing again (download AppImage etc) and it worked ok! So far anyway…

I have no idea what was different this time round…

That is really weird! But I’m glad you got through it! Cheers!

Hey, Steve!
I’m just wondering, have you been accidentally booting from the USB? Because I find it quite odd that you’d have only 8GB available and Ubuntu generally picks up the main drive you select - which is quite bigger than what you show on the screen photo. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Can’t see how - no USB plugged in and I’ve rebooted a few times along the way

You have an uncanny capacity to attract mystery, my friend!
How does the Disk Usage Analyzer look after your reboot?

I really don’t get what’s going on… uname -r returns 5.14.12-051412-generic again.

WTF?

I thought we had installed 5.13 with Ubuntu 21.10

I know! How do I do it??

It’s definitely a gift!

I have to scratch my head here! Did you select the “Install alongside Ubuntu” and you now have two Ubuntus on your system?

Disk Usage Analyzer show 480 GB available on /

Home folder is /home/steve … I could have sworn it was /home/ubuntu before. Does that give you any clues?

Out of curiosity, open up your settings and go to About (at the end of the left column). Let’s see which Ubuntu you’re currently running.

20.04.3 LTS … !!!

How can that be??

WiFi is working

Just as I suspected! You selected the installation of 20.10 Ubuntu alongside the 20.04.3. And yes, the WiFi would be working since we upgraded the Kernel to 5.14. Also, the Kernel was allowed to work after the Secure Boot was completely disabled.

This means that Ubuntu 20.10 made a small partition and stuck by the default values of space. You have 2 Ubuntu on your system!

Good grief. No idea how I installed 2 Ubuntus. Ubuntii…???

But uname -r shows 5.14
