Website hosting

A friend wants to move his website off GoDaddy. Seems GoDaddy is now requiring that website owners make changes to their sites exclusively via Microsoft Edge. No other browser is allowed in. Not going there.

My friend’s web needs are basic: text presentation only, with his contact email address (Proton mail) being imbedded in the text. No sales, scheduling, etc. Traffic is usually light.

A few years ago, @WestTexasGrit posted about being pleased with Agathon (Agathon Group) as a host (Hosting your own website & email).

Questions:

  1. @WestTexasGrit , can you update us on your current experiences with Agathon?
  2. Does anyone else know of a safe website hosting service?

I think my friend’s not into the complexities of self-hosting these days.

Thanks,

I’ve had excellent service from easyDNS.com, which is based in Canada. I was in a web development business for about five years and their support has been first rate ( I have since retired from that).

Thank you, @Crosswind , I will forward your suggestion to my friend.

Here’s another web-hosting possibility: https://liberationtek.com/

They were recommended at the end of an article (Proton Mail Reports - Intel On Demand ) posted on mark37.com’s Telegram channel.

Has anyone worked with liberationtek?

I have mine through Namecheap. The price is right. Customer service is really great. I’m very pleased with them.

Thanks, @Mike . Do you have any word regarding their privacy policies?

I’ve got a pretty simple website on Carrd.co. It has plenty of flexibility and it’s around $20 per year. It would do fine for your friend’s needs.

Thank you, @MamaSauerkraut .
