Hi Vasileios! Hope your week went well. I’m sure you are very busy.
I was so happy to hear you did a detailed video for setting up a VPN that I decided to try it.
I opened a Linode and followed the directions. However, it seems that the VPS is still asking me for a password. Can you look at this and tell me if you see where I messed up?
Hey @LibertyMom!
I’m glad you found the video helpful!
From what I see, no, you did not mess up anywhere. You simply gave your SSH key a passphrase. That’s the password it asks you when you’re connecting. There’s no password transmission to your VPS. In short, it all works as it should!
I did it! I successfully set up the VPN tonight. It was a big accomplishment for me. Thanks to your video and the step-by-step written instructions.
So my next question is, how do I set up OpenVPN on my router?
First of all, congratulations!
Per the router, that will depend on the router itself. Does it support a configuration file upload for an OpenVPN connection? - If you can inform me of the model, we could check it out.
I have a Comcast/Xfinity voice and data modem: Cisco DPC3941T
I’m not sure if it supports a config file upload.
