What are the wifi settings for Mint 20 that control 5G

My wife’s computer had always been able to get onto our 5G Wifi. She had turned on her computer to attend to bills and found that her computer was unable to connect to the network printer. We thought that odd so when I looked at it, the 5G network wasn’t in available networks. It was no where to be found. I was sitting just feet away from her and was on the 5G network! We have the same version of Mint as I had set them up the same day. Soooo… any idea’s what happened???

Do you have your wifi network split into 2.4gig and 5gig networks? If so, you’re not able to see the 5gig network in your wireless connection settings?

Yes, I saw both networks on at the same time with my laptop, while she couldn’t. I believe that when she turned off the computer for a couple minutes, then turned it on, her computer reset and showed all networks again. This might be something in the BIOS that could have turned off her receiver to the 5G setup. Not sure but this seldom happens, but yet does occur every once in a while. No rime or reason to it. It just doesn’t pick it up.

That’s odd. If this happens again, rather than reboot the machine try turning off wifi for a couple minutes then see if the 5gig network is visible. If I may ask, which make and model is her system?

Yes, that is what I ended up doing. It did work.
