I have an auto vox car camcorder that doesn’t play/view videos/photos on Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia. The company’s only suggestion is to use GXPlayer.msi Windows program.
Any workarounds to try? Maybe try formatting the memory card in a different way?
If you format the Memory Card you will delete everything (videos).
Install VLC MediaPlayer.
It is able to handle a bunch of different “Codecs”.
I assume you have a way of getting the Camcorder files onto your PC?
Good Luck.
VLC MediaPlayer cannot play the files.
Yes, I can transfer the contents of the card to my PC.
I was talking about formatting on the PC instead of the Auto Vox camcorder–I’m not concerned about losing any files when reformatting.
What format are the video files? Are you able to see data on the memory card?
What model is your vox camcorder?
@admin , is it acceptable for @zpepelepu to upload to this thread, a short (i.e. small sized, no personally identifiable sites/sights) file that was produced by the auto-vox-car-camcorder?
That would allow us to experiment with the file on our various Linux distros. Could determine a resolution pretty quickly.
Hadn’t made note previously but reviewed the pdf and it says MOV.
I removed the old Windows 10 I had dual-booted and upgraded to Viriginia 21.3. I didn’t save any of the video files from the V5 I had on the Windows side.
V5–apparently it is no longer made; the new model is V5 Pro.
As an aside, I purchased the Pro recently but returned it as the mount wasn’t compatible on my teen’s car.
Assuming it is given the OK, yes, I will do so but it will be a couple of days due to some travel/commitments.
Look for Avidemux in your software rep’s and install it.
This carries the QuickTime codec.
A good video editor for converting Mov. to MP4
You should be able to open them play and convert them.
To all those waiting with baited breath…
The cam corder hangs up when trying to format the card in situ. I FAT2 formatted the card on the PC. After reinserting and recording, the MOV files work just fine on Linux (VLC).
Thanks to all for the feedback.
Great news, and glad to hear that VLC is doing what it’s supposed to do. ![]()
