Should I be concerned with eSim phone vs Physical Sim card phone

I just purchased a Google Pixel 10 phone. My 7 Pro Pixel with Graphene OS literally became unserviceable. I plan to turn the Pixel 10 into a Linux OS phone as well. My question is should I be concerned that it has the eSim. As I understand it, it could allow more surveillance because I can’t take the sim card out, if I desired (which so far I haven’t desired…lol).

I just want to know the concerns before I wipe the google OS. Thank you!

One side question. I have heard a lot of phone security experts warn against getting off the big tech OS train. As I am sure you have heard, they say you become more of a target because so few have taken the steps to install a Linux OS or some other phone that is private from their prying eyes. What are your thoughts on this?

I can’t comment on the eSIM issue, but I’m curious about your GrapheneOS phone and what happened to make it unusable?

Which Linux distro is available for the Pixel 10?

An eSIM isn’t any less private than a physical SIM. Both connect you to the carrier in the same way, and neither adds extra “surveillance” by itself. The bigger privacy factors are your phone’s OS, apps, and network settings — not whether the SIM is physical or embedded. eSIMs are also harder to lose or clone, which can be a security benefit.

Hope that helps!
