I have Linux Gnome V16 OS on a dell laptop. starting new with Linux on this dell. I am trying to change my time zone by using the GUI, but when I search for how to do this in my browser the directions are all for later OS. Should I update to Mint? I am comfortable with using the command line, but I want to also be able to navigate with GUI. When I go to settings, I do not see Date and Time, the search engine is telling me to go to activities in the upper left corner. Don’t see Activities on the screen or my key board. My progress so far is I installed a VPN, Brave browser, learned a few T-commands (fun, takes me to the olden days of Mr. C-prompt) and have no problem navigating to anything on line. On my old computer I have windows 10. Hate windows and want to cut the cord as fast as I can. This last hour’s struggle to change to central time zone is starting to wear me down and it’s only 10am, well actually 9am
Thanks for the help!
1. Using the GNOME GUI (Recommended)
-
Open the Activities overview (press the Super/Windows key).
-
Type “Settings” and open it.
-
Go to System → Date & Time (or search for “Date & Time” directly in Settings).
-
Toggle Automatic Time Zone off if it’s enabled (this uses location services).
-
Click on the Time Zone field or the map.
-
Search for your city or select it on the map (e.g., America/New_York, Europe/London, Asia/Tokyo).
-
Confirm the change. The system clock should update immediately.
