I have Pop!OS on a System 76 laptop.
When I did the updates (300+) I got the above error message. When I clicked on ‘more info’ I got
E:dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run ‘dpkg --configure -a’ to correct the problem.
My question is this: do I just type this into terminal? Or is there more to it than that?
I’ve only used terminal once, so I’m not sure what will happen and if I’ll know what to do if I try it. It would be nice to have some input on this before I try. Meantime, my GUI icons aren’t working. I hope that’s all that’s affected!
Thank you! I looked on their website, but didn’t find support or all their info. I do a search next time for support.
I typed in the one command the error message indicated and it’s working on it. I love how I can see what’s going on vs. Windows that just gives you a silly message. There’s no way to tell if it’s hung or actually doing something!
Ok, it worked! Yay. Thank you for the encouragement and the info!
Your link to the Support for System 76 really came in handy tonight. I got a message that upgrades were needed again. And I got an error message again. I ran the one suggested ( like the above: dpkg --configure -a) which did nothing. I tried it several times. I tried updating with the GUI interface. Error message. So I came back here, went to the link and ran through the top 5 commands suggested. Voila’! Success is a sweet thing. And I’m gaining confidence in using the command line. Double thanks!!
Great to hear. You sound like a quick learner.
I’m sure it wont be long before you are looking at different distro’s. Linux is only limited by ones imagination.
I did a live boot of Linux Mint on my old laptop, but couldn’t figure out how to access my files at that point, so I didn’t do a whole lot. I still need Win10 for business until we get some Excel things figured out, so I have a new laptop with Linux and keep my old one with Win10 for now. There are still holes in my understanding of how things work in Linux as far as the inner workings, but, yes, it’s only the beginning!
