I have an old Toshiba laptop running Ubuntu. It crashes fairly often and I don’t know why…anyone have any ideas?
Could be anything from hardware to software or software interacting with hardware etc.
Describe what you mean by ‘crashing’? Are you get a kernel error on the screen? I have had laptops ‘crash’ that had bad hard drives. The other would be to check /var/log/syslog for events around the time that it crashed. That may offer you some clue.
The screen turns gray and I can’t do anything except power off. Usually when I restart it boots up again.
I’ll have to figure out how to check /var/log/syslog. Thank you!
