Linux Mint boot issue - BusyBox

I installed Linux Mint on a friend’s laptop. The install went well and was working great, however now the computer is booting directly into BusyBox.
I am wanting to know how to get back to the desktop and stop booting into BusyBox. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am an IT tech but haven’t been using Linux long.

From a web search I found this is from a couple years ago.

Dennis,
Thank you for the information. I actually was able to resolve the issue by booting to a linux USB drive, pullnig up DISKS with minta and running Check File System and Repair File system.
Although both Check and the Repair came back with no issues, I then rebooted and was able to get back to the deskop.
